What will health insurance cost in 2027?
Comparis forecasts that basic-insurance premiums will rise by around 3.7% on average in 2027 (published 12 May 2026), as insurers rebuild the reserves they used up between 2019 and 2022 and absorb rising costs in home care (Spitex, +13%) and psychotherapy (+10%). The Federal Office of Public Health (BAG/OFSP) warned separately on 29 May 2026 that the increase could be closer to 5%, pointing to a 5.2% jump in healthcare costs per person in 2025 — the sharpest rise in eight years — while stressing this is an early estimate, not a final figure. For comparison, official 2026 premiums rose 4.4% on average when BAG announced them on 24 September 2025. Insurer-by-insurer 2027 premiums are published by BAG each autumn, so based on last year's timing expect them around September 2026. Until then, comparing your current 2026 premium is the only way to know whether you are already overpaying — and your cancellation must reach your insurer by 30 November to switch for the following year.
All 2027 figures on this page are third-party forecasts and indicative estimates, not confirmed prices, and do not constitute advice. Deductible (Franchise) options for adults remain CHF 300–2,500.
